The Musical Touch Of Leonard Nimoy
Dot DCD-26559
Year Released: Not Manufactured

A glorious CD boxed set of all five of Leonard Nimoy's original LPs complete with 32 page book filled with photos and illustrations. All tracks have been digitally remastered and include bonus interviews and extras.

This compilation is not currently manufactured. We are using this forum to promote the idea of re-releasing his original five albums as a boxed set. Many of Nimoy's recordings are currently not available in digital form. We hope that someday a record company will preserved and remaster these wonderful records onto CDs. Maybe it would look something like this?

Golden Throats:
The Great Celebrity Sing Off
Rhino / Wea B0000032C1
Year Released: 1992

The Golden Throats series of CDs was an extremely popular collection of unintentionally bad recordings by celebrities such as Sebastian Cabot, Eddie Albert, William Shatner, Jack Webb and Mae West. This CD was originally released on vinyl in 1988 and then the CD a year later, after the follow-up CD (in case you notice the dates don't match up).

Nimoy Songs Include:
Proud Mary
If I Had A Hammer

Tracks from Nimoy's LPs:
The New World of Leonard Nimoy and The Way I Feel

Golden Throats 2:
More Celebrity Rock Oddities
Rhino / Wea B0000032U4
Year Released: 1991

The second Golden Throats series of CDs, this time with recordings by celebrities such as Sammy Davis, Jr., Bing Crosby, Cassius Clay and Phyllis Diller.

Nimoy Songs Include:
Put A Little Love In Your Heart

Track from Nimoy's LP:
The New World of Leonard Nimoy

Golden Throats 3:
Sweet Hearts of Rodeo Drive
Rhino / Wea B0000033GJ
Year Released: 1995

The third Golden Throats CD with recordings by celebrities such as Goldie Hawn, Lorne Greene, Telly Savalas and Jim Nabors. There's a fourth CD in this series, Golden Throats 4: Celebrities Butcher The Beatles. Unfortunately, and to our personal disappointment, Nimoy never recorded a single Beatles song, despite mentioning that he was a big Beatles fan in several interviews. Oh well, at least William Shatner stepped up to the plate with his clasic rendition of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.

Nimoy Songs Include:
I Walk The Line

Track from Nimoy's LP:
The New World of Leonard Nimoy

Spaced Out:
The Very Best of
Leonard Nimoy &
William Shatner
Universal Music/Phantom(UK)
MCLD 19361
Year Released: 1997

British import CD combining musical recordings of Leonard Nimoy (highlighted in gold) with those of William Shatner (highlighted in blue). A very nicely designed CD with good informational text by Marcus Hearn. All of the William Shatner songs come from his LP, The Transformed Man, released in 1968. By the way, Shatner's newest musical venture, Has Been (released in 2004), is an excellent CD well-received by critics and fans alike. We could write more about Shatner, but that would be another website!

1. King Henry the Fifth
2. Elegy for the Brave

Spaced Out! A Unique Collection Of Songs By
Leonard Nimoy &
William Shatner
Universal Music/Space (Canada)
UMD 80455
Year Released: 1997

Same content as the British CD, but brought to you by the friendly folks at the Canadian television channel "Space: The Imagination Station" (which is similar to the SciFi Channel in America). Ugly text and colors abound on this release. And where's Shatner's ultra-cool striped pants?!? The cropping removes Leonard's microphone as well. All things being equal, buy the British release and skip over this one.
